Christmas Vacation 2009
We had SUCH a great Christmas vacation this year. We took the kids out of school a couple of days early so we could travel over the weekend. We broke the trip up a little bit so it wouldn't seem so long. The first day we stopped at my brother and sister-in-law's house in Colorado and stayed for a couple of nights.
On Monday we drove the rest of the way to Spanish Fork, Utah, where my sister Jen lives. We stayed there through Christmas. One of the days we were there we took the older three kids on their first skiing excursion. It was a blast. They went to ski school in the morning while Dave, my Dad, and I skied on our own and then after lunch we all skied together. The kids really enjoyed it which was really saying something because it snowed the entire time we were there so we all got pretty wet and cold. I hadn't skied since before my early college days, so it was fun to get back out there again.
Christmas was a great day. How can you beat lots of yummy food and family? Poor Phillip woke up sick and vomited for the better part of the day. Intermittently he would play with his favorite thing he got for Christmas (a "CARS" train set), but mostly he slept.
The day after Christmas we drove with my parents down to their house in St. George, where my other sister, Kristin and her family came to stay and visit.
One of my kids' favorite parts of St. George was this really cool park that had all kinds of very unconventional, but cool playground equipment. They had never been to a park quite like it, so they couldn't get enough of it. On this one with Ryan and Kennadi, you distribute your weight so it spins around and around and you get quite dizzy. I tried it and Dave spun me around on it. I had two sensations, one of needing to pee and the other of wanting to vomit. I guess my adventurous days are coming to an end.
Not quite sure what this one is called but you sit on the seat and someone pushes you up to the top of one side and then lets go and you go flying back and forth. I guess you can try it standing up, but we never got that far. Phillip loved this one, that is until he flew off and landed face first in the wood chips.
Kennadi and Sophie, on a different version of a swing that went back and forth and up and down and all around.

My parents have a condo not terribly far from that park. Our kids love it! Sounds like a great christmas.
So fun to see the pics of your family. You will have to tell me where this park is in St. George. We might be going there this summer.
