Last year I was in charge of the Staff Appreciation Committee for our school's PTO. It involved providing a nice meal or treat for the staff members each month and then it culminated with a week-long event in May to coincide with the nationally recognized staff appreciation week. We wanted to do something really fun and we had a game-show theme called "Game On" based on popular game shows past and present.

At the beginning of the week the staffers each got a little briefcase (like from "Deal or No Deal"). Inside it had the itinerary of the week's event as well as their score card. Each day we provided a great snack or meal for the staff and they had the chance to come to the "game room" to play a quick game and earn points. This is what we did each day:

Monday - We fed them a delicious waffle breakfast and the game of the day was "Wheel of Fortune". We had a great wheel made by a generous parent (from another school, that did this theme a previous year). The staff would come to the game room, spin the wheel to see how many points they were playing for and then solve a word puzzle.

Tuesday - Parents generously provided all kinds of snacks for the staff to come and enjoy in the staff lounge throughout the day. The game of the day was "The Price is Right". Staffers would come to the game room and play one of two games. One was "PLINKO" where the staffers would drop a ping pong ball on a plinko board (recreated by same amazing parent) to earn points, the other was the "High/Low" game. They were given three items with prices and they had to decide if the real price was too high or too low.

Wednesday - We bought delicious sub sandwiches for all of the staffers and made sack lunches for each of them. The game that day was the "100,000 Pyramid". They had to play this game with a partner. One would give the clues and the other would have to guess and they both got the points they accumulated.

Thursday - We made smoothies for the staffers in the afternoon. The game of the day was "Family Feud". They played the "fast money" part at the end and had 25 seconds to try to get the most popular answer to 5 quick questions.

Friday - We provided a taco bar for lunch. The game was "Deal or No Deal". At the end of the school day each staffer came with their scorecards and if they did not win, they got to pick a brief case from off of the wall (we made a construction paper briefcase for each of the staffers- close to 100) and inside they won a prize. We had all kinds of things donated from gift cards to sports paraphernalia. So everyone really came away a winner. The person with the most points got won of those digital picture frames.

Exhausting, but lots of fun!
