Christmas in Detroit

This year after much grumbling from me we decided to make one last trip out to Michigan for Christmas to see our families.  It's not that I don't like to see my family.  I love seeing my family.  It's just that Christmas time always throws a new dynamic into the mix.  Things are always so busy this time of year anyway, but add packing into the mix, as well as trying to figure out how to bring gifts and then take home gifts, and then worry about what the traffic might be like, and you can see how things start to get stressful.  We know that by next Christmas we will more than likely be out in Colorado, which makes traveling to Michigan that much harder, so we thought it would be a good idea to take advantage of one last year.

First stop was Detroit where we spent some time with my parents.  The girls got to go to the temple Friday night and do baptisms which was a lot of fun.  It was also Maddie's first time ever doing baptisms, so it was special that she got to be baptized by her grandpa.

Christmas day was extra special because it was actually on Sunday, so before we opened any presents (thank you, my patient children), we went to sacrament meeting which was beautiful and spiritual and a lovely way to start the Christmas Day.

I grew up in a family of game players and my kids are following in my footsteps, so it's a lot of fun when we're with family that likes to play games.  My kids could play games ALL day when we're with family.  Our favorites this time around were:  Dalmuti, Animal (always a classic), the Liar's Dice game, and Apples to Apples.
