Maddie and Maille

We've lived in St. Louis for almost 7 years now, and in most of that time, Maddie has in a lot of ways been on her own.  Sure, she's had her sister and brothers, and she's had friends at school, but she's never really had that one special friend that she really connects with.  Church was always hard too, because she never had any girls in her class.  It was always a big class of boys, plus Maddie.

All of that changed this year though when she went to middle school.  Right off the bat she became friends with a girl that seemed to be in most of the same classes with her.  They got along really well and soon found out that they both went to the same church, just at different times.  It is so nice to know that your daughter is friends with someone who shares the same core values that you have in your family.

We love Maille.  She is a little firecracker.  But, more importantly, Maddie loves her and has had such a fantastic year in school, I think in big part because of this friendship.  I can't help but wonder if one of the reasons we haven't been able to sell our house yet, and that we still need to be here, is so that Maddie could find Maille and develop this friendship.

I know that when we do move it will be hard on both of them, but I'm so grateful that they've had this year to find each other and develop a friendship that will last forever.  They may not always go to the same school, or live close to one another, but they have found something that will transcend the distance.

Maddie is such a gem. Anyone who has her as a friend is so lucky! So glad that she has had Mallie!
